I need some advice about training my dog.?

I have a 3 year old pomeranian, and I must say he is a real menace lately. He goes to the bathroom in the basement when he is alone and barks when he doesn’t get to come up. People say that this is because he doesn’t like being down there alone and wants to come join the rest of the family. It is a finished basement so it’s not like we lock the dog down in a dirty basement. We go down there all the time but when we come up, he barks. Any advice on how to train him to stop barking and peeing everywhere. We’ve tried letting him up but he still pees on the carpets and goes into the trashcan and rips stuff up. He really is a menace. We want to try everything we can without getting rid of him.

Help! I need dog potty training advice.?

I have two dogs. One is 6 the other is 10 months. She came from a shelter and I taught her to ring a bell to let us know when she has to go to the bathroom. This worked pretty well until she realize that when she rings the bell, we get up and take her outside. Now she rings the bell for the heck of it and stares at us outside like she is laughing at us for getting us to take her outside. Then i take her in after 5 minutes of telling her to go potty. Then shortly after she will find a spot in the house and go.

what can i do to get her to go outside?

another note: when she does potty inside, we show her what dhe did and taker her outside immedietly to show her where she is supposed to go. I think she is now confused with her potty place and she doesn’t know if it is a punishment or what to do.

Help- how do i correct this behavior?
I have picked her up in mid pee and poo, taken her outside and then praised her when she does go outside. This has been ongoing now for 4 months. She will also ring the bell then pee on the other dogs bed then run around the dining room table so we can’t catch her. I’m so frustrated

I have always crate trained my dogs with great sucess. My 6 yr old lab will run into her crate as soon as I even touch a kong and will sleep most nights in there on her own. I just rescued a lab/shepard mix. He is about 3 years old and gets tons of excersize. I have followed the same methods as with other dogs, meals in the crate, lots of treats and praise, etc. However he is still extremely fearful of the crate. I have been working on the positive association side of this for 10 days now and I feel like we have made no progress. As soon as he goes into the crate to get a treat he pops right back out and the one time I tried to shut the door he panicked and wouldn’t get near the thing for a day! I would really like to be able to reliably crate him for various reasons and have him trust the crate as a safe place. If anyone has any suggestions from experience they have had I would love to hear. I know the basics of crate training, looking for beyond the normal advice! Thanks

I need advice on dog training?

I have a 6 month old male shih tzu named Conner. Recently we did some obedience training with our dog with our local Kennel Club (the last training class was last night).

Conner did very well with obedience training but now Conner won’t come when he’s called. I say his name and tell him to come and all he does is sit there and looks at me like I’m from a different planet. How can I train my dog to come to me when he’s called? Is this just a phase that my dog is going through? Will he grow out of it?

Were getting Conner nutered on friday and my husband thinks that Conner will listen better after he’s been nutered. Is my husband right?
We wanted to get him nutered sooner but the vet wanted us to wait until more of his teeth came in.

I have a 10 week old Basset/Lab mix puppy. I want to read about how scent dogs are trained. I would also like to read about training service dogs. I am just interested in different dog training methods. She is such a smart puppy that I worry that if I don’t keep her properly stimulated mentally she could cause all kinds of mischief.

I could also use some advice. There is about an hour soon after each of my puppy’s mealtimes that she is really hyper. I know that a nice long walk would be a great way to use the extra energy but Bassets are prone to bloat and should not be exercised immediately before or after a meal. I try to direct her energy towards her toys but she likes to jump on my two year old when she is at her most hyper. She bites my daughter’s hands and arms and steals her blankie. If I keep her on leash I can control her but off leash she can be a little terrorist. We are working on the “leave it” and “drop” commands (amongst other basic commands) because those seem like they would be the most useful in this situation. Does anybody have any advice on dealing with a really mouthy puppy? Any tips on helping her to outgrow this habit a little more quickly?
